Vista

Vista is a city 7 miles inland that occupies about 19 square miles and has a population of just over 100,000. The State Route 78 runs through the city, allowing good access to coastal areas off the I-5 and inland areas of the I-15. Vista is an excellent place to enjoy outdoor activities with its wonderful year round weather and location in the rolling hills. There are two theaters in Vista, as well as botanical gardens and historical museums. Popular community events in Vista include the Strawberry Festival, the Rod Run, and Christmas and Saint Patrick’s Day parades.

Communities

Communities in Vista offer a rich blend of cultures and diversity. Housing is dominated by multi unit structures such as apartment buildings, row housing, and townhomes. These buildings are often older, with many being built before 1970. Residents here are likely to pay rent as opposed to being homeowners. There are also some suburban areas that have been constructed since the turn of the century. The zip codes in Vista are 92081, 92083, 92084, and 92085.

People

Vista is home to a multicultural, diverse market. Many generations live here, but it is dominated by a younger generation with the average age being around 30. There are many foreign born residents and also a large population of young professionals. Many households in Vista have children in either married couple or single parent families. All residents are hard workes, and there is an above average labor force participation rate throughout Vista. People here enjoy staying healthy and are environmentally conscious. They are also status conscious and well connected via the internet and the latest technology.

Environment

Vista has many areas with medium pollution scores as calculated by CalEnviroScreen. The pollution scores could indicate a population vulnerable to pollution related issues. High rates of dust and pollution particles may increase the spread of viruses, worsening the COVID-19 crisis in communities with already low defenses. There are many low income qualified areas in Vista as well.  Additionally, some parts of the area lie in high fire threat districts. These environmental qualities could qualify some residents for rebates and incentives for Solar Power, Plug-In Vehicles (and EV Charging), or Energy Storage installations, lowering the cost of these installations.

Makello’s guest lecture presentations can help direct millions of dollars in Federal, State, and Local program funds to where it is needed most in your community. Contact us for your next company, organizational, board, or membership meeting, green initiative, or grant writing project.
