Rancho Bernardo

Rancho Bernardo is a master planned community on the northern boundaries of the City of San Diego. It is located in the hills, and there are many canyons and large rock outcrops, offering great opportunities for outdoor recreation such as hiking, biking, or rock climbing. The I-15 runs through Rancho Bernardo so residents still have good access to the rest of San Diego and get to enjoy a suburban lifestyle. It is a sprawling community, and there are many shopping centers and golf courses as well.

Communities

There are many different types of real estate in Rancho Bernardo including large multi unit structures, row homes, and family style houses. Suburban single family homes dominate in Rancho Bernardo, especially west of the I-15. Over half of the homes have been built since 2000, and it continues to be a developing market. Home ownership is high among the single family homes, and there are many renters in the multi unit structures. The zip codes in Rancho Bernardo are 92127 and 92128.

People

Residents in Rancho Bernardo are well educated, well connected, and hard workers. It is a community made up of many young professionals, climbing the ladder in their science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) jobs. Many households are occupied by married couples with children. Residents are well connected via the internet and technology. They enjoy using the internet for entertainment and shopping for trendy fashions. Often residents here have a longer than average commute time to and from work.

Environment

Fortunately, Rancho Bernardo has low air pollution scores as calculated by CalEnviroScreen. Areas with high pollution scores are more vulnerable to pollution related issues, and high rates of dust and pollen particles may help the spread of viruses. Many homes lie in high fire threat districts and some may qualify as low income qualified. These environmental qualities could qualify some residents for rebates and incentives for Solar Power, Plug-In Vehicles (and EV Charging), or Energy Storage installations, lowering the cost of these installations.

Climate Equity Index

Climate Equity Index refers to the opportunity communities have to combat environmental justice and social equity concerns. Climate Equity ranges from low to high throughout Rancho Bernardo, and residents may benefit from incentive opportunities to alleviate the cost of green technologies while striving for environmental justice.

Energy Independence

Many residents and business owners in Rancho Bernardo are interested in utilizing technology that is eco-friendly and improves quality of life. Solar energy systems are increasingly affordable, especially after energy efficiency measures reduce use, and incentives and financing options reduce the up front cost.
