Del Mar

Del Mar is a coastal city which is reflected by its name; in Spanish “del mar” translates to “by the sea”. Del Mar has a population of about 4,500 and occupies just under 2 square miles, but there are countless views and activities to enjoy at this pleasant beach town. There are many high end restaurants and hotels, unique shops, outdoor activities, and community events. The Del Mar Racetrack hosts many activities from races to the county fair. People can enjoy hiking in lagoons or along the cliffs, and of course there is endless surfing, sunbathing, and other beach activities to enjoy.

Communities

Del Mar residents prefer a more expansive home lifestyle, so they have moved away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Del Mar is an affluent and urbane community. Suburban residences dominate here, and the homes have high values. Most homes are built in established neighborhoods, often constructed between 1970 and 1990. The schools here are highly rated. The zip code in Del Mar is 92014.

People

Del Mar community members are well educated and well employed, but many community members are soon approaching retirement. The average age of residents is in the mid to late 40s, and there is not a lot of ethnic diversity in this community. Many residents are married without children, as the children have moved out. They take pride in their homes and prefer quality over cost. Residents enjoy home improvement opportunities and staying healthy with diet and exercise.

Environment

Fortunately, Del Mar has low air pollution scores as calculated by CalEnviroScreen. Areas with high pollution scores are more vulnerable to pollution related issues, and high rates of dust and pollen particles may help the spread of viruses.

Solar Irradiance

Del Mar has excellent solar irradiance, making adoption of solar technology a wise investment, with fast payback in as little as 3 years for cash purchase, or cash-flow positive monthly loan paymentsSee how much you can save.

Adoption Rate

Solar energy adoption rates in North County San Diego are estimated to be between 15% and 25% of homes having solar photovoltaic (PV) panel installations.

Energy Independence

Many residents and business owners in Del Mar are interested in utilizing technology that is eco-friendly and improves quality of life. Solar energy systems are increasingly affordable, especially after energy efficiency measures reduce use, and incentives and financing options reduce the up front cost. Installing solar energy helps reduce energy costs while creating energy independence, which is especially useful during the peak use hours, rolling brown outs, or planned power outages.
